Sophomore linebacker Wes Dothard (Carrolton, Ga.) and freshman quarterback Terrell Robinson (South Pittsburg,Tenn.) also discussed the team's preparations for hosting Furman this weekend.

Head Coach Russ Huesman
Opening Statement:
"It was a really good win on the road against a good football team. Elon has some talented players and in this league, the way it is going right now, any road win is huge. Everybody is good right now and wins are hard to come by. I don't think that we played great. We had some really good individual performances, but on both sides of the ball, I am not sure that we played like we are capable of playing. Elon may have had something to do with that, but we have to play well on both sides of the ball if we are going to have a chance to win against Furman. We had some outstanding individual performances. Terrell Robinson, Marquis Green, Faysal Shafaat and defensively, Wes Dothard, Ryan Consiglio, Gunner Miller and Kadeem Wise, all played really well to help us win the game. Overall as a group, we played okay. Seeing the score 42-18, I am sure that everybody said how great we were coming off that field. After watching it, we have a lot of work to do. We just have to continue to get better and we addressed that with the team on Sunday and each individual has to get better to make this football team better."

On how the team rebounded after Elon fought back in the third quarter:
"That is a great point. What really helped us, too, was that they didn't convert either one of those two-point conversions to make it a one-score game. At that point in time, it was a 10-point lead, two-score game, and I don't know that there was that much pressure. I told Satt [Offensive Coordinator Marcus Satterfield] that we have to find ways to get first downs. We can't go three and out here. Fortunately, Terrell popped a 41 yarder that was big. I think that took the wind out of their sails a little bit and actually energized us, too."

On Terrell Robinson's play:
"Terrell is a good player. The thing that I like about Terrell more than anything is how composed he is out there. He is not letting things affect him. He is making plays within our offense. Also, now he put a new element into it. He can come to the line of scrimmage, let seven guys come after him, and dump, which is probably not something he was coached to do. He just did it and made two big plays for us. Whenever you have a running quarterback and dangerous guy back there that is what happens. As soon as he gets out or comes forward, as a defense, you are telling your guys come get him or specifically one or two guys. On both of those plays, they were fantastic decisions by Terrell.

"The energy that he has brought to the offense is great and without him, we are probably still struggling a little bit on offense. He has been a huge factor in what has been going on.

"With that being said, we had 327 yards of total offense and that is semi-pathetic to be honest with you. We have a long way to go. We have to get better all the way across the board. To score 42 points and have 327 yards of total offense, there is other variables and factors in play. I would say probably defensively is why this is happening. The other thing, too, is that offensively, you have to give our guys credit. When they are getting it down there, they are getting it in the endzone, which we did not do in the first four or five games of that year. A lot of that has to do with Terrell."

On Wes Dothard leading the defense:
"He has been incredible. The guy is playing as good as anyone in this league. I don't care who it is. Consiglio and him are both playing really well. Wes with being just a sophomore, showed signs last year of being talented and instinctual enough to be a good linebacker. We always watched him and said I think he can be good. He has grown up. It was always stay on Wes about his grades, keeping his weight and being on time. Wes finally turned a corner last spring and said I am tired of the coaches getting on me about this. I am going to do good in school. I am going to be accountable to my teammates. I am going to be in shape and study the game. He is playing like an All-American. This is one that we can point to other people and say here is why Wes did not play much last year. Here is why Wes is probably the best player in the league defensively right now. It is funny in how it works that way, coaches throughout the country preach it and say it. He has always been a great kid. He has always been one that I liked from day one that we recruited him. He was one of our first recruits. He comes from a great family. He just kind of had to grow up a little bit."

Sophomore Linebacker Wes Dothard
On the changes you have made coming into this season:
"I think that during spring practice I felt like I was still a little immature, then I am now. The coaches were on me hard then, so I felt like that I need to grow up a little bit and step up this season. Over the summer, I matured a lot more. My work ethic got a lot better."

"I wanted to be an All-SoCon player. That was one of my goals when I sat down and talked with coach [Adam] Fuller last spring. I have just committed to it over the summer."

"I really did not know that I would be doing this well right now. I just go out there every day, work hard and try to get better. We just want to win."

On the defense making plays this year:
"We all can stop people, but we are all playmakers. Everybody on the field is a playmaker from the defensive line, linebackers to our safeties. Kadeem caught the interception at the end of the game and basically pulled it from the receiver's hands. That is a playmaker right there. We are all out there to make plays and consider ourselves playmakers."

On the focus during the game:
"I am focused on doing my assignments. When the ball is coming to me, I am focused on making a tackle. Everything else just pans out. I am really just focusing on my job and making sure that we have the right calls. I am making sure that the defensive linemen are getting the right calls and making sure that they are running their blitzes correctly."

Freshman Quarterback Terrell Robinson
On who you watch on television in college or pros:
"I pretty much watch any game that comes on. I study the quarterback to see what they are good at and the flaws that they have. I just try to pick up different things from each and every quarterback. Different things from each and every one of them could be helpful to me."

On the Joel Bradford touchdown pass against Elon:
"That was just something that happened in the game. I saw Joel turn up the field and I knew that I could make the throw. I threw it up. It was a great play by Joel. He made an outstanding catch and scored the touchdown."

On the role B.J. Coleman has played in preparing you to play:
"He is a great teammate. He is always there and when I need an answer, he always has it. He is always on the sideline making sure that I am calm and telling me what he sees and providing me some suggestions. He is a great teammate."
