The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga had another outstanding day of football season ticket sales with its annual "30 Minutes or Less" promotion. The Mocs sold 81 season tickets with today's push, upping the total for season tickets sold to 2,404.
Today's event promised that all phone orders from campus, downtown, North Shore and the southside would be hand delivered in 30 minutes or less, or the entire order was free. Head Coach Russ Huesman and many members of UTC's external staff spent the day delivering tickets throughout those areas.
Coach Huesman took the first order to the Miller Brothers Building on Market Street. There he delivered tickets to Thomas Mon, a first time season ticket buyer. Mon said he has been to many football games over last few years and decided to buy season tickets for the 2012 season. Coincidentally, former Moc T.J. Hurless (2008-11) is a co-worker of Mon at Mesa & Associates and came out to speak to Coach Huesman.
Coach Huesman also delivered tickets to long-time season ticket holder Ronald Swafford at the Chattanooga Human Services Department. Swafford is a 1978 graduate of UTC and was a manager on the Mocs' 1977 NCAA Division II National Championship team.
The Mocs are closing in on the school record 2,761 football season ticket mark set last year. UTC has broken its football season ticket mark in each of the first three years under Coach Huesman.
Tickets are still on sale on GoMocs.com, or by calling the UTC Ticket Office at (423) 266-MOCS (6627). Tickets start at $35 for faculty/staff, youth and alumni. The season kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 1, at South Florida. The home opener is set for Thursday, Sept. 13, against Glenville State. The Mocs' home schedule also includes visits from Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, Samford and Elon.
