The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Athletics Department celebrated 39 student-athletes, managers and support staff who participated in today's 243rd Commencement Ceremonies at McKenzie Arena. Seven of the Mocs graduated with distinction, led by Southern Conference Players of the Year Taylor Hall and Jordan Britt.
Hall, the first in league history to earn women's basketball player of the year, defensive player of the year and tournament MVP honors in the same season, capped off her career with Magna Cum Laude honors as a Rehabilitation Science major.
Britt earned Cum Laude recognition as a Health & Human Performance major. She led the Mocs to their fifth straight SoCon Women's Golf Title this season, grabbing league player of the year honors along the way.
Football's Nick Pollard (Criminal Justice) and soccer's Taylor Mangrum (Rehabilitation Science) were also Magna Cum Laude. Women's tennis All-SoCon performer Alexa Flynn graduated Cum Laude in Political Science, as did track & field's Nathan Wanuch (Secondary English) and softball's Stephanie Rieck (Business).
Other notables who graduated today included Z. Mason (Integrated Studies), the SoCon Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year; Johnny Taylor (Criminal Justice), the 1997 SoCon Men's Basketball Player of the Year; Steven Fox (Business), the 2012 U.S. Amateur Champion; Football All-American Wes Dothard (Criminal Justice); and former SoCon Wrestling Champion Alex Hudson (Mechanical Engineering).
