CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---Chattanooga Mocs Head Men's Golf Coach Mark Guhne had a definite target for the early signing period. He zeroed in on Chattanooga-area native Lake Johnson and never looked back.

“Lake can be very special for us,” Guhne stated. “He has been very good as a junior and has a lot of potential. He is not just a great player. He is a good student and a great young man. He is just a really good fit for our team. I can't wait to get him on campus and working with us next season.”

Johnson is one of the southeast's brightest prep players. His signature win came at the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Preseason Junior at Chateau Elan this past spring. His final round 67 gave him a 5-under par total of 137 and a five-shot victory.

A senior at Chattanooga Christian School, Johnson also captured the Sea Island Junior Classic and the Chattanooga TPC (men's event) in 2014. The latter was his fifth win of 2014. He won six times on the TGA Junior Tour over the last four years.

The Mocs are through with their fall schedule and return to the course March 2-3 at the Davidson College Invitational. Click the “Fall Story” link above to read about the first half of the season.
