CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga cross country and track coach Bill Gautier announced the addition of three runners to his teams for the 2015-16 season.
Haley Morris of Lenoir City High School is a five-year state qualifier. She reached the state three times as a cross country runner and thus far earned two bids in track and field. She is a three-time All-Region First Team member. In track, she competed in the 800 meter run and the 4x800 meter relay as a freshman. In her sophomore year she ran the 3200 meter run and was on the 4x400 meter relay team.
Haley is the most decorated distance runner in Lenoir City High School history and holds school records for the 1600 meter, 3200 meter, 5K and 4x800 meter relay. She received the team MVP award for cross country this past season and is the team captain of both the cross country and track teams.
When she is not running she is a two-year member of the National Honors Society and enjoys singing with the Lenoir City High School Chamber Choir.
She is the daughter of Steve and Gina Morris and has an older brother Hunter who is a junior at the University of Tennessee.
Nicole Buehrle is a three-time conference all-star and was named MVP as a freshman. She is a three-time district medalist and two time state qualifier for track in the 1600 meter run. She has run a personal record (PR) time of 5:08 in the 1600 meter and 2:20 in the 800 meter.
The third signee is Richard Guiry. He was voted team captain in his junior and senior years and was an All-District and All-Region honoree in 2013. In 2014 he was selected to the All-Region team and was recognized as one of the Top 15 Mid-State Cross Country Association (MSCCA) Runners. With a 17th place finish at the State finals, he just missed all-state honors.
Richard is actively involved in student council, Model UN and Youth in Government. He was selected to the National Honors Society and has logged over 300 hours of community service. He has participated in three mission trips, teaches church class and volunteers at community events.
