Men's Tennis Closes Regular Season at Tennessee Tech

| By:

The men's tennis team closes out the regular season Thursday with a dual match at Tennessee Tech.  The match in Cookeville, Tenn., begins at 3 p.m. CT.

The Mocs, 12-8 overall, have righted the ship after a six-match losing skid.  Chattanooga has earned 4-3 victories in its last two outings, defeating Southern Conference opponents Wofford and Georgia Southern.

Head Coach Carlos Garcia's projected singles lineup features junior Peter Sauska (16-3) at No. 1 singles, senior Badr Bouabdellah (12-7) at the second spot and senior Razvan Axente (9-9) in the third position.

Junior Pavel Vostrikov (12-8) is expected to play No. 4 singles, followed by freshmen Hasan Hamadeh (3-12) and Robert Diamond (7-8) at the fifth and sixth positions respectively.

Freshman Rick van de Bovenkamp could see action in the doubles lineup.

The Mocs opened last season with a 7-0 home shutout of the Eagles.

Tennessee Tech is much improved in 2008.  The Eagles are 15-3 overall and 7-0 within the Ohio Valley Conference heading into Wednesday's match at Louisville.

Tech has won eight straight matches.  The team's three losses came in succession, at No. 75 Stetson, at Central Florida and at No. 70 Middle Tennessee.

Five of the Eagles starters have produced double-digit wins, led by senior Borja Zarco at 17-1 and freshman Dean O'Brien at 16-2.
