CHARLESTON, S.C. ? The Chattanooga women's golf team held onto fourth place through two rounds Monday of the Southern Conference Championships with a second-round 313 at the par 72, 6,022 yard Links at Stono Ferry Golf Club in Charleston, S.C.
Freshman Christine Wolf moved up one spot and is in a two-way tie for fifth at 6-over. She carded a 4-over 76 on Monday that included a trio of birdies. She started the day with back-to-back birdies and fired a 1-over 37 on the back nine. She is 6-over with a two-day total of 150.
Sophomores Kayla Stewart and Katie Taylor along with freshman Emma de Groot, each shot a 79 on day two. Stewart carded a 38 on the front nine and nailed a birdie on the final hole to finish at 7-over for the day and 10 over for the tournament. Taylor and de Groot are both 13-over for the tournament.
Furman has held onto its lead and is six strokes up on UNC Greensboro at 22-over while the Spartans recorded a score of 604 through day two. Elon is just two strokes up of the Lady Mocs in third place with a 40-over and the College of Charleston is two strokes behind Chattanooga at 44-over.
Furman's Jaclyn Hilea moved up from third to take over the lead with a level par while Elon's Danielle Mills held on to second place at 2-over. First-round leader Stefanie Kenoyer of Furman dropped to a tie for third with UNC Greensboro's Ashley Mylton at 4-over and Wolf is tied with College of Charleston's Emily Rapp at 6-over.
The final round will tee off Tuesday morning with the first tee times at 8 a.m.
