MURFREESBORO, Tenn. --- Junior Emmanuel Kirwa (Kapsabet, Kenya) ran to a first place finish at the Blue Raider Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Murphy Center and led six Chattanooga runners to top five finishes.
Kirwa, running in his first indoor season at UTC, recorded a PR in the event with a time of 8:28.72. Fellow junior Chris Berry (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), UTC's school record holder in the event, placed third with a time of 8:29.48.
Freshman Kyle McLarty (Collierville, Tenn.) placed third in the men's mile run with a time of 4:20.91 with senior David Moore (Sarnia, Ontario) finishing fifth with a time of 4:24.50.
In the women's events junior Anneli Uys (Somerville, Australia) placed fourth in the Mile with a time of 5:05.73. The women's 4x400 meter relay team took fifth with a time of 4:19.03.
The Running Mocs will run in the Valentine Invitational next weekend in preparation for the upcoming Southern Conference championships to be held in Clemson, S.C., Feb. 25-26.
