GREENVILLE, S.C. --- True freshman Steven Fox moved into first-place individually while carrying the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's golf team into the same position at the Furman Intercollegiate.  Fox's four-under par 68 powered Chattanooga to a three-shot lead.

The Mocs hold that three-shot advantage over No. 18 Clemson.  UTC stands at 580 (+4), while the Tigers lurk at 583 (+7).  Old Dominion is in third at 591 (+15), 11 shots back after shooting 298 today.

With both teams entering the round tied in first and beginning on the tougher back nine, Clemson got the better of the Mocs by three shots over holes 10-18 turning at two-over, while UTC shot plus-five. 

Chattanooga was able to make big strides over holes one through six again today shooting nine-under par for those holes, but seven, eight and nine took a toll.  The counters shot seven-over for those three to finish their day at 291 (+3).  The Tigers shot four-over for its second nine including plus-six over the final three.

Fox is in first overall at six-under par 138 after rounds of 70 and 68.  It is the first time he recorded back-to-back sub-par rounds as a collegian.  Today saw Fox card six birdies and just two bogeys.

Stephan Jaeger's 73 puts him tied for sixth at one-over par 145.  Derek Rende is just one shot back tied for eighth at 146 (+2) after a 77 today.  J.T. Clendenin bounced back from a tough first day with a 73 (+1) and is tied for 53rd at 153 (+9), while Fredrik Qvicker is tied 69th at 155 (+11).

Fox leads by two shots over Presbyterian's Adam Black whose level par 72 keeps him in second-place, where he was after 18 holes, two shots back at 140 (-4).  Clemson's Ben Martin is third at 141 (-3) after today's 71.

Freshmen Alex Ratliff and Simon Forsslund are playing as individuals.  Ratliff is tied for 61st at 154 (+10) after today's 79.  Forsslund also shot 79 for his second round to place him tied for 103rd-place at 159 (+15).

Chattanooga concludes the tournament with a final 18 holes on Sunday.  Qvicker leads off as the Mocs are playing with Clemson and Old Dominion.
