AWENDAW, S.C. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's golf team finishes 10th at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate after a final round 286 (+2) left the Mocs with a 54-hole total of 863 (+11).
LSU claimed the tourney title holding off Wake Forest by one shot and No. 18 Virginia by three. The Tigers shot seven-under par 845 for the tournament, 279 (-5) for today's final round. Wake Forest fired the low round of the day with an eight-under par 276 to round out its 846 (-6), while UVa matched LSU's effort with its own 279 ending its 54 holes at 848 (-4).
Stephan Jaeger led Chattanooga tying for 22nd at one-over par 214. His final round 69 (-2) paced the Mocs followed by Derek Rende at even-par 71. Rende tied for 27th at 216 (+3), two shots behind Jaeger.
Fredrik Qvicker and J.T. Clendenin shot matching 73s to round out the counting scores. Qvicker's 219 (+6) placed him tied for 41st, while Clendenin ended up tied for 41st at 228. Steven Fox tied for 32nd at 217 (+4) following his round of 76.
Defending NCAA Champion Matt Hill (N.C. State) led at the end of each day as his nine-under par total of 204 was two shots clear of Wake Forest's Lee Bradford at 206 (-7). Bradford shot eight-under par 63 for his final round.
Chattanooga's total (863) ties for the second-best 54-hole result (Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic) this season behind the 855 at the Cleveland Golf/Palmetto Intercollegiate which UTC won earlier this month. Today's round (286) ranks as the Mocs' 10th best effort of the season.
The Mocs are back in action this weekend, April 3-4, at the Administaff Augusta State Invitational. Chattanooga is one of nine teams ranked in the top 50 competing in the event.
