CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at
Chattanooga volleyball team concludes its spring season on Sunday with a free
coaches clinic from 3-4:30 p.m. followed by an Alumni Match at 5 p.m inside Maclellan
Gym. First-year Head Coach Travis Filar will conduct the coaches clinic
teaching local high school and club coaches about some of the training
techniques the Lady Mocs have used this spring. A brochure for the clinic can
be viewed through the link at the top of the page.
"We are excited because it is going to be a big day for
Chattanooga volleyball," said Filar. "This is a chance for our staff and team
to give back to the community and share some of the things that we have done in
our gym.
"Then, I am encouraging them to stay around and watch our
alumni match. We want to get our alumni of Chattanooga volleyball and the
community excited about the new direction of the program."
The Lady Mocs have been hard at work this spring preparing
for the 2011 fall campaign since the middle of March. They have participated in
6 a.m. practices three to four times a week, which has pulled the team together
as a family.
"I think that we have made a lot of progress," said Filar. "Technically
and skill wise, our kids have improved tremendously in their all-around game. The
culture in the gym has completely changed in how hard we are training along
with our energy and communication in the gym. The kids are loving volleyball."
