"Every year, our goal is to put together a schedule that is going to challenge us and make our team stronger for the conference stretch," said Reed, a five-time Southern Conference Coach of the Year. "This schedule provides our student-athletes a taste of playing competition that we could see heading into the postseason and regionals."

For the third-straight season, Chattanooga begins the year in Clermont, Fla., at Dot Richardson's National Collegiate Invitational on Feb. 10. Florida A&M, Alabama A&M, UCF, Ohio State and North Florida are on the schedule during the three-day event.

The Lady Mocs then on Feb. 18 take a short drive south on Interstate 75 for the Georgia State Panther Invitational. The three teams, IUPUI, Georgia State and Eastern Illinois, will play in a round-robin format with the final game based upon seeding.

From Feb. 24-26, Chattanooga hosts the annual Frost Classic Inspired by Memorial as 12 teams head to the Scenic City. A doubleheader between Valparaiso and Niagara kickoff the home slate for the Lady Mocs beginning at 1:15 p.m. The next day begins with the Lady Mocs battling East Tennessee State as former Chattanooga assistant coach Brad Irwin and standout-third baseman Tiffany Baker, who is a graduate assistant, are welcomed back to Frost Stadium. Purdue and Troy are also on the docket for the Lady Mocs to round out the event.

"The Frost Classic is a quality tournament every year especially with the facilities that are available," said Reed. "Valparaiso, Niagara, East Tennessee State, Purdue and Troy are five strong softball teams that are going to challenge us because they are well coached. We have been catering to the same teams year in and year out, which shows that the tournament is being run well."

In addition to the five teams that Chattanooga faces, Ball State, Belmont, Cleveland State, Dayton, Tennessee Tech and UT Martin are a part of the tournament that is run at Frost Stadium and three fields at adjacent Warner Park.

Next up is the Red and Blue Classic held in Oxford, Miss., on March 2-4. Chattanooga will take on Delaware, Belmont, Norfolk State, host Ole Miss and Troy.

"You have to continually play quality teams because you have to be consistent," said Reed. "Consistency comes from consistently not having let downs and playing teams that are going to get up and challenge you every day."

Before playing their first conference series, the Lady Mocs hosts SIU-Edwardsville in a mid-week tilt on March 7. College of Charleston comes to Chattanooga to kick off the Southern Conference schedule as the Lady Mocs look to defend their five-straight SoCon Regular Season Championships.

The week of spring breaks brings one of the toughest stretches for Chattanooga as it faces two national-powers from the Sunshine State. The Lady Mocs first play at Florida State on March 13 in Tallahassee, Fla., before heading to Gainesville, Fla., for a doubleheader against 2011 Women's College World Series participant Florida.

"This is definitely going to be a tough week," said Reed. "There will be a different thought process going into a mid-week game. The focus will be just on that game and not the entire tournament, like your next game. You are throwing your best and trying to do what you can to win."

Another consistent stop for Chattanooga throughout is Clearwater, Fla., at the USF "The Game" Tournament. Two Big Ten schools in Northwestern and Illinois are on the slate along with UMass, who has been an NCAA participant in two of the past three seasons. Canisius and Hartford round out the five teams playing the Lady Mocs.

Chattanooga continues on the road playing two key series at Appalachian State and Georgia Southern. The series against the Mountaineers will provide the Lady Mocs an opportunity to see a newly renovated Sywassinek/Lloyd Family Stadium prior to the Southern Conference Tournament in Boone, N.C.

A 10-game homestand at Frost Stadium, the second longest such stretch excluding tournaments in progran history, begins on April 4 against Marshall, a former SoCon softball member from 1994-97. Chattanooga finishes up a tough start to the league schedule against Elon on April 6-7, as it faced the top four finishers behind the Lady Mocs from last season.

Following a mid-week game against Tennessee Tech on April 10, the Lady Mocs welcome Western Carolina in for a three-game series beginning on April 14. A doubleheader with UAB on April 18 completes the long homestand for Chattanooga.

"The teams in the conference are getting stronger and that you can't look past anybody," said Reed. "Certainly, no one in the league will be looking past us."

The Southern Rail Rivalry against Samford starts on April 21 in Birmingham, Ala. Furman then invades the Scenic City on April 28-29.

UNC Greensboro is the final stop on the regular season schedule for Chattanooga on May 5-6.

The 2012 Southern Conference Tournament hosted by Appalachian State in Boone, N.C. commences on May 9. Nine teams will play in the double-elimination event with the champion named on May 12 earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Chattanooga will be seeking to capture its 12th tournament title.

"I am sure that Appalachian State is excited about hosting the event," said Reed. "There is definitely a way to play that field with a short fence and it is always important to have a road series there before the tournament."

NCAA Regionals are played on May 18-20 as the Lady Mocs have made eight appearances in their history.

All 56 contests on the schedule will be broadcasted live on MocsVision with the voice of the Lady Mocs Tyler Brown providing the play-by-play commentary.
