The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga put 25 student-athletes on the 2011 Fall Academic All-Southern Conference Team the league office announced today. The Mocs led the SoCon with six honorees maintaining a 4.0- grade-point-average among the fall sports teams.
To be eligible, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average entering the fall season and were required to compete in at least one-half of their team's competitions during the recently-concluded fall campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours in the previous two semesters.
Cross Country's Chris Berry (M.B.A.), Morgan Buchanan (Education), Tara Gietema (Marketing), Sarah White-Woerner (Health & Human Performance); along with Soccer's Taylor Mangrum (Occupational Therapy) and volleyball's Christina Teter (Biology) all have 4.0 cumulative g.p.a.s at Chattanooga.
UTC's football team led the way with seven on the list while men's cross country and soccer had five each. The volleyball and women's cross country teams each had four make the team.
