HEAD COACH
MARK GUHNE (Chattanooga '84) is in his seventh year as a head coach, all at Chattanooga.  The Mocs have won 14 team titles under his watch, including three SoCon titles, and he has been named SoCon Coach of the Year three times (2006, 2007, 2008) and PING East Region Coach of the Year once (2009).  He has coached 10 medalists including one in 2011-12, Jaeger (Golfweek Conference Challenge).

LAST TIME OUT
Steven Fox (Hendersonville, Tenn.) led Chattanooga to an eighth-place finish at the LSU Invitational. Fox shot a consistent 220 (+4) to tie for 14th, one stroke ahead of teammate Stephan Jaeger (Munich, Germany). Chattanooga carded rounds of 305, 299 and 290 to shoot 894.

The Mocs expect to make their sixth straight NCAA Regional appearance at one of six locations May 17-19: Grandover Resort - Greensboro, N.C.; Univ. of Georgia G.C. - Athens, Ga.; Univ. of Michigan G.C. - Ann Arbor, Mich.; The Club at Olde Stone - Bowling Green, Ky.; Jimmie Austin OU G.C. - Norman, Okla.; Stanford Golf Course - Stanford, Calif. The field will be announced on May 7 at 9 p.m.

• UTC is ranked No. 34 on Golfstat and No. 39 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index.
• The Mocs have won the Southern Conference Championship four times, finished second three times and third another three years. The four titles is third most among current members. UTC won in 1987 (Charlotte, N.C.), 2007 (Florence, S.C.), 2008 (Florence) and 2009 (Florence).
• This is the first year the SoCon Championship is at the Ralston Creek Course on Daniel Island. The previous five were played at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence where the Mocs captured three titles.

• The Ralston Creek Course was the site of the 2011 Nationwide Tour Championship.
• Chattanooga student-athletes have won four of the last five Southern Conference Golfer of the Year honors. Jaeger won the last two and Jonathan Hodge (2006-09) won in 2007 and 2008.
• Guhne won Coach of the Year honors three times - 2006, 2007 and 2008.
• UTC has won medalist honors just once. Donnie Green (221) captured the individual title in 1978 at the Country Club of South Carolina. Mocs have finished second seven times in in six years.
• In addition to his back-to-back player of the year honors, Jaeger is a three-time all-conference performer and the last Mocs golfer to win Freshman of the Year (2009). He looks to join Derek Rende (2007-10) as the only UTC student-athletes to make the all-league team all four years.
• Jaeger set a new school record with 25 rounds in the 60's. His two at the Linger Longer Invite pushed him past former teammate Derek Rende's (2007-10) 23.
• Jaeger's 15 par or better rounds gives him 62 for his career. That's good for second in UTC history two shy of No. 1 Jonathan Hodge (2006-09) with 64.

• UTC is -114 (4.72) on par 5s as a team this season on its counting cards with a low of -26 at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic. That's just ahead of the 24-under par effort at the Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic.
• Jaeger is on the watch list for the 2012 Ben Hogan Award. He is the first Mocs student-athlete to be so named.
• Jaeger is No. 16 on Golfstat and No. 25 in Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index.
• Fox has 12 scores in the 60s for his career and 32 par or better cards. Fox posted 63 birdies over his last 18 rounds (3.5 per) after 17 in the first nine (1.9).
• Jaeger has six top 10s in nine events with four top 5's. He has 17 career top 10s, 13 top 5's. He's finished first twice, third thrice, fourth six times and fifth twice, but never second.
• Jaeger is -6 for the season after shooting -1 for 2010-11. Since the 2011 Furman Intercollegiate, he has shot -20 (14 tournaments - 756 holes).
• UTC has seven par or better rounds as a team. Individually, Jaeger leads with 15.
• Mocs student-athletes have six top fives and a total of nine top 10s thus far. This includes a win and three runner-ups.
• 17 rounds in the 60's led by Jaeger with nine. Fox has four, while Robb and Weilguni each have two.
• Jaeger's career scoring average of 72.25 is the lowest in school history. Hodge is second at 73.07. Jaeger is +0.67 against par.
• Fox was named SoCon Golfer of the Week following his performance at the LSU National Invitational. It was his second such honor in his career.
• Jaeger was named league Golfer of the Month for March. His best finish was tied for third against a strong field at the Linger Longer Invitational.
• For his efforts at the Linger Longer Invite, Jaeger earned his first SoCon Golfer of the Week mention of 2012 and fourth overall. That's the most won by a UTC men's golfer.
• All seven Mocs have qualified for at least two events this season. Only Jaeger and Fox have played in all nine events. UTC has had six different lineups this season.
• Chattanooga carded 43 birdies among the counters over 54 holes at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic to end the fall slate. That's a season-best as is the 19 recorded in the final round.
• Jaeger posted his second career collegiate win at the Golfweek Conference Challenge. His seven-under par total of 209 is an exact match to his winning total at the 2011 LSU National Invite. His two wins are one behind Hodge and Bryce Ledford (2004-07) with three.
• The first two events this season were a handful for the Mocs. The fields for the Carpet Capital Collegiate (12 teams) and Golfweek Conference Challenge (15) included 20 2011 NCAA Regional participants, 10 of which advanced to the NCAA Championship with three (Oklahoma State, Georgia, Georgia Tech) that advanced to match play. UTC went 19-6 finishing sixth at the Farm and second at the conference challenge with wins over Oklahoma State, Georgia Tech, Cal, Georgia, LSU and Wake Forest.
• Weilguni carded a career-best finish of second at the Carpet Capital Collegiate where he tied his career highs for 54-hole total (210) and single round (67) at the Carpet Capital. His five-under 67 in the second round included an eagle, four birdies and 12 pars with a single blemish (bogey).
• Liam Johnston (Dumfries, Scotland) is one of the more heralded newcomers in UTC history. He finished as runner-up at the 2011 Scottish Boys Match Play Championship, 2011 Scottish Boys Stroke Play Championship and was No. 2 on the 2010 Scottish Boys Order of Merit.
• The Mocs are an interesting mix of regional and international talent. There are three Tennesseans in Bunn (Knoxville), Fox, (Hendersonville) and Ratliff (Kingsport). There are two Scots (Robb & Johnston), an Austrian (Weilguni) and a German (Jaeger). Jaeger covers both sides of the pond prepping in Chattanooga at the Baylor School.
