CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga Mocs head women's golf
coach Colette Murray announced the signing of Porsche Campbell (Vancouver,
British Columbia) Friday. Campbell is the first Canadian to join the UTC
women's golf program.
Not only is she the first from the Great White North to
tee it up for the Mocs, she is also the program's first lefty. As much as her
golfing talent, her impact off the course will be felt as well.
"First of all, Porsche has a great golf swing," Murray
commented. "I could watch it all day long. I think she is going to develop into
quite a player here.
"I don't know if I've ever had a player that is more
excited to be a Moc," Murray continued. "I think she is going to be great
energy-wise for the team. She's a little more mature coming from a college in Canada."
Campbell is a transfer from the University of British
Columbia which competes in the NAIA. She competed in four events in 2010-11 for
the Thunderbirds and has an impressive junior resume.
Porsche won three times in 2009 and 2010 including the 2009
MJT National Tour Championship, a six-stroke victory. She was the 2009 BCGA
Zone 4 Junior Champion and won the 2010 MJT Mayfair Lakes with a runner-up and
tie for fifth as well in 2010 MJT (Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour) events.
She was a three-year captain for the Notre Dame Regional
Secondary team from 2007-09. She also participated in the CJGA Canadian Team
Cup and North Pacific Team Matches in 2009 and was a soccer standout.
Campbell joins Isabella
Loza and Emily
McLennan in the Mocs 2012 signing class. Loza, whose sister is current UTC
senior Maria Juliana, signed in the fall, while McLennan was announced earlier
this week.
