SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- Chattanooga Mocs sophomore Jordan
Britt (Chattanooga, Tenn.) was named the Southern Conference Golfer of the
Month for April the league office announced today. It is Britt's first in-season
honor.
Jordan captured her first collegiate title winning the
SoCon Championship with a 54-hole total of 222. She led the Mocs to their third
straight team crown at the difficult Moss Creek North Course topping among
others, the 32nd-ranked player in the country Fanny Cnops of UNCG.
Britt shot rounds of 77, 71 and 74 in winning by three
over Cnops and by five over teammate Maria Juliana Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia)
in third. She tallied a season-high 11 birdies in grabbing the win after
finishing as runner-up the year prior.
It was a clean sweep for the UTC golf teams at this
season's golf championships as the men won the team title, while Stephan Jaeger
(Munich, Germany) was the medalist. That marks just the third time in SoCon
history that one school captured all four titles with Furman turning the trick
in 1997 and 2004.
Britt and the Mocs travel to State College, Pa., next
week for the NCAA East Regional. The event is slated for the Penn State Golf
Courses Blue. It begins on Thursday, May 10, and ends Saturday, May 12. Live
scoring is available on the women's golf schedule page on GoMocs.com and
