CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga Mocs head basketball
coach John Shulman is a featured speaker at this weekend's Nike Championship
Basketball Clinic at the Harrah's Tunica Events Center in Tunica, Miss. The clinic
begins Friday, May 4, and continues through Sunday, May 6.
Shulman is scheduled to be joined by Bobby Knight, Bob
Huggins, Rick Majerus, Leonard Hamilton, Brad Stevens, Josh Pastner and Mark
Fox among others. Each will discuss their particular topic for an hour, 15
minutes except coach Knight who has the floor for a full two hours. Shulman's
presentation is on "Man-to-Man Defense and Doubling the Post".
Fox opens the clinic on Friday evening followed by
Knight. Pastner, Hamilton, Stevens, Huggins and Majerus are part of a six-man
lineup on Saturday. Shulman closes the event on Sunday.
"I'm excited," Shulman stated. "If you are a basketball
purist, you spend time at clinics in the spring and fall and the big deal was
always to go to the Nike Basketball Coach's Clinic. From an early age, I
started going and you always dream of being on that podium.
"I got a call in September/October asking me to be one of
the clinicians," he added. "I am thrilled and honored and love talking at
clinics. There'll be coaches from all over the country from Division I coaches
to middle school."
Shulman and his staff are hosting two team camps and
three individual camps this summer. Both team camps run consecutively June 8-10
and 11-13, while the three individual camps are June 2, 24-28 and August 11.
Full camp information is available on GoMocs.com or by calling 877-254-0028.
