BOONE, N.C. - This week's edition of Extra Innings with
Frank Reed, a weekly show highlighting Chattanooga softball, is on location at
the site of the Southern Conference Tournament. The Voice of Lady Mocs
softball, Tyler Brown, and head coach Frank Reed bring you the show from high
above Boone, N.C., at Beacon Heights on the Blue Ridge Parkway, which was the
scene for the team's off-day activity.
Chattanooga finished the regular season at 37-14 overall and
20-2 in the Southern Conference following a sweep at UNCG last weekend. The
Lady Mocs will enter the SoCon Tournament as the No. 2 seed.
Brown and Reed recap the Lady Mocs series against the
Spartans, where the team captured, 7-1, 9-2 and 6-3 victories.
Coach Reed then highlights some of the team's story lines
entering the tournament. The Lady Mocs had a league-record nine student-athletes
honored on the two All-Southern Conference teams.
Senior designated player and pitcher Michelle Fuzzard
(Huntington Beach, Calif.) was named as the conference's player of the year
for the second-straight season. She became the first repeat selection since
1997.
The duo discuss the question of the week that relates
directly to the Southern Conference Tournament. For fans that would like to
have their question answered by the five-time SoCon Coach of the Year, send an
email with your name and question to Nate-Blythe@mocs.utc.edu.
Chattanooga begins its defense of a SoCon Title on Wednesday
at noon against No. 7 Elon. Fans can follow all the action with live stats,
free audio and subscription video available on the softball schedule page of
