ATLANTA, Ga. --- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior Chris Berry (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) placed ninth in the men's 1500 meter run at the Georgia Tech Invitational at the George C. Griffin Track.

Berry ran the event in a time of 3:53.31, just .22 seconds off his PR time set last season at the Emory Invitational. Furman's Lee Gilmer posted the top time in the event at 3:47.45 followed by Belmont's Marcus Bridger-Wilkinson at 3:47.67. Host Georgia Tech finished two runners in the top six with North Florida's Cameron Dickerson placing seventh with a time of 3:51.69.

Sophomore Amanda Sumner (Bristol, Conn.), looking to qualify for the NCAA Region meet in the 5000 meter run, did not finish her race. At the Stanford Invitational last month, Sumner aggravated a foot injury and was forced out of the race after leading over the first 3000 meters.

Up next is the NCAA Region meet on May 24 in Jacksonville, Fla. Berry is qualified for the 10,000 meter run. He set a school record at the Stanford Invitational in the event and posted the third best time in the NCAA South Region.
