Moore Named to CFPA All Purpose/Kickoff Returner Award Watch List

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga junior Chaz Moore was named to the College Football Performance Awards All-Purpose/Kickoff Returner Award Watch List this week.  Moore is entering his third season at UTC and handled most of the kick return duties for the Mocs last season.

A native of Memphis, Tenn., Moore had 18 returns for 468 yards in 2011.  His 26.0-yard average per kickoff return ranked No. 19 in the nation and was fifth in the Southern Conference.  He ranks 14th in the nation among those returning for the 2012 season and third among returning players in the SoCon.

Moore's longest return was a 44-yarder against The Citadel.  He also had 40+ yard returns at Eastern Kentucky, Samford and Western Carolina.

Moore's primary position is defensive back where he is expected to step into a starting role this season.  He has played in all 22 games over the last two years and made six starts.  He forced a pair of fumbles as a freshman and made two picks as a sophomore.

Moore joins junior defensive back D.J. Key (Centerville, Tenn.) junior linebacker Wes Dothard (Carrollton, Ga.), senior defensive end Josh Williams (Griffin, Ga.) and sophomore tight end Faysal Shafaat (Orlando, Fla.) to make up the five Mocs who have been named to the CFPA preseason lists.

The Mocs open 2012 with a trip to South Florida on Sept. 1. The home schedule kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 13 against Glenville State at 7:00 p.m. (E.D.T.). Season tickets are on sale now with more information available here.
