Passmore Moves Up In Record Book, Downs Wofford
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.- The Chattanooga Mocs (7-11, 2-2 SoCon) downed the Wofford Terriers (9-6, 0-3 SoCon) in a five-set match Saturday night at Maclellan Gym. Senior libero Paula Passmore (Merritt Island, Fla.) moved up to second all-time the UTC record book, recording her 2064th career dig.

Passmore led the Mocs defense with 42 digs while Melissa Green (Boca Raton, Fla.) collected 32 and Bridget Camacho (Cumming, Ga.) tallied 23. The Chattanooga offense was headed by Lauren Gainer (Boca Raton, Fla.) who gained 17 kills and Julimar Alvarado (San Juan, Puerto Rico) spiked 13 attacks. Both Briana Reid (Houston, Texas) and Kasey Talley (Boiling Springs, S.C.) collected double-digit kills with 11 and 10, respectively.

The Mocs jumped out and shocked the Terriers 25-13 in the first set, recording a match-best 20 kills. UTC hit a match-best .381 hitting percentage in the first frame. Wofford hit just .119 during the first frame. The Terriers pieced together a three-point run near the end of the set, but the Mocs took advantage of a Sarah Batterton (Colbert, Wash.) kill to end the frame.

Chattanooga took a 9-0 lead to begin the second set behind the service of Alvarado. Wofford put together two three-point runs, but the Mocs bested the Terriers with a 25-14 score. Wofford committed a match-worst 11 errors during the frame.

The Terriers fought back after the intermission with back-to-back set wins, 25-19 and 26-24, to force the match to a fifth frame. The Terriers pulled with two points of the Mocs, 8-6, but Chattanooga was able to pull away with two four-point runs to claim the fifth set 15-7 and the match 3-2.

"Our girls executed the game plan to a tee tonight," Head Coach Travis Filar said. "We came out hot and faltered in the second half. Wofford is a great team and they proved it with two set wins after the intermission. Our girls did a great job of holding them off and getting an important win at home."

The Mocs travel to Elon and UNCG next weekend as Southern Conference play continues.
