Head Coach Russ Huesman
Thoughts on taking on Furman after the bye week
"
The bye week came at a good time. We are getting Dean Haynes and Devin Caldwell back, and they needed last week's practice to get themselves acclimated to football again. Across the board, everybody else is pretty healthy."

"Furman has a really good football team. They lost a tough game to Samford in their opener, which shows that Samford is a pretty good football team this year. They lost to Coastal Carolina in double-overtime and they lost to Wofford, who I think has one of the better teams in the league. Their losses are to really good teams. They are in the Top 25 in the country in total offense. They handle quarterbacks really well, they have a true freshman this year and he's doing a pretty good job.  We're going to have to play well to win this game, especially with it being at Furman. So hopefully we have a good week of practice."

Thoughts on Dean Haynes making a start
"We have penciled him in on almost all the plays on the special teams. I'm not sure how much he will play in the secondary. We'll just have to see how the game goes. He's still knocking the rust off but he looks good so far. He is healthy but he hasn't played in a while. He only went through two days of camp. He not only has to knock off the rust physically but mentally. Zack McCordle will start at free safety this week and we'll just see how that goes. I have a lot of confidence in Zach. He has been in the program for a while and I have no doubt he'll do well."

Thoughts on the offense creating trouble for the defense
"
When you're playing both Terrell Robinson and Jacob Huesman, they're both good players, and we need to get the ball in their hands or the illusion of the ball in their hands to make this offense work. We will continue to strive to do that and continue to use both of them."

Thoughts on using the two quarterback system
"
It was pretty easy. We came out of spring not knowing what we were going to do. The types of summer and camps they had made it a pretty easy decision leading into the season. The hard part is to just find ways to get the ball in their hands in space. That's part of the offensive coach's job, though."

Hunter Dockery, junior, offensive lineman
On how important it is to finish blocks
"Coach keeps saying we have to finish blocks. For us it's probably mental. We just have to keep going. We had a good week last week. Eventually we'll get to the point where we'll be finishing blocks the whole time."

On the mentality coming off of the bye week
"I like the bye week. It gives us time to rest and we got back to our fundamentals. Hopefully that will help us prepare for Furman because their defense is really disciplined."

Gunner Miller, junior, linebacker
On Furman's running game
"We played Jacksonville State and they run the ball very similar to Furman. They're a power run team and they'll run right at us. We just have to play physical and fast to stop them."

On if facing a power running team is more fun as a linebacker
"As a linebacker, if they are in the spread and throwing it around everywhere you might not get as much action. When a team is in the pro style offense, you're going to be in the game and be a big part of it. It's on your shoulders you have to be ready to play and play physical. If you don't, it could to be a long day."
