Lady Mocs Open Home Stand Against Murray State
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.-The Chattanooga Lady Mocs softball team hosts the Murray State Racers Wednesday evening at 4 p.m. to open up a six-game home stand in the Scenic City. UTC also welcomes Appalachian State to Frost Stadium Saturday and Sunday to open up the home Southern Conference schedule.

The Lady Mocs look to rebound this week after dropping two games a three-game series to Furman in Greenville, S.C. to open up Southern Conference play on the road. Chattanooga comes into Wednesday's game with a 15-14 record while the Racers stand at 7-12 on the season. This will be the first meeting between the two schools.

The Lady Mocs depend on seniors Sara Poteat (Thomaston, Ga.) and Kasey Tydingco (Fairfield, Calif.) to lead UTC over the Murray State. Poteat continues to pace the Chattanooga offense with a .377 average and 40 hits while Tydingco follows with a .365 average and ranks second on the team with 15 runs batted in. Alyssa Taylor (Orange, Calif.) has been the main run producer with 16 RBI and continues to maintain the starting shortstop's position as a freshman.

Sophomore pitcher Taylor Deason (Clarksville, Tenn.) enters the week as the Lady Mocs ace, leading the team with 10 wins with 97.0 innings logged. Freshman Rachel Albritton (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) is also proving to be consistent in the circle for the Lady Mocs, pitching in 50.0 innings and earning a 3-2 record, thus far. The Murfreesboro, Tenn., native stands at 1-0 in SoCon play with a 0.70 ERA, holding off the Furman Paladins over the weekend to hand Chattanooga's its lone conference win so far on the season.

Murray State enters Wednesday's game for its second matchup of the Racers' spring break tour. Murray State makes a stop in Knoxville Tuesday night to take on the Lady Vols before traveling to Chattanooga. While on the road, MSU will also meet up with East Tennessee State.

The Racers are led by Casey Castile, topping the team charts with 21 hits, 14 RBI and a .350 batting average. Castile has blasted three home runs, ranking third on the team, and leads Murray State with 11 extra-base hits. Shelbey Miller, batting .347, also poses a threat at the plate with 17 hits and has been successful in swiping four bases in five attempts.

CheyAnne Gaskey leads the Racers' bullpen with a 2.36 ERA and four wins. The ___ has tossed five complete games and has appeared in 12 games. Shebly Kosmecki has been the workhorse for Murray State, dealing in 64.2 inning and starting 12 games. She has started every game she has played in and leads the staff with six complete games.
