Keiana Gilbert Named SoCon Freshman of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga guard Keiana Gilbert (Columbia, Tenn.) earned her second straight Southern Conference Freshman of the Week honor for her performance in games play November 25 – December 1.

Gilbert averaged 21.0 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game with a .621 (18-of-29) field goal percentage in two games last week. The rookie led the Mocs with a career-high 27 points in the 67-63 upset of No. 4 Tennessee last Wednesday. She was named ESPNW National Player of the Week on Monday, in part for her performance against the Lady Vols.

Gilbert then led Chattanooga with 15 points against Arkansas State on Monday night, while shooting .700 (7-of-10) from the field. The native of Columbia, Tenn. ranks sixth in the conference in scoring at 14.0 points per game and fourth in field goal percentage at .513 and leads all freshmen in both categories.
