MEN'S GOLF SUMMER UPDATE ? June 24, 2009
>Three Mocs played well in the 125th British Amateur at Formby and West Lancashire Golf Club in Formby, England. Stephan Jaeger and Fredrik Qvicker advanced as far as the round of 32 in match play, while Ben Rickett made it to match losing a round earlier. Jaeger and Qvicker tied for ninth at three-under par in the 36-hole qualifying while Rickett tied for 15th (-2).
>Jonathan Hodge (tie for 30th) and Derek Rende (tie for 35th) at the 80th Southeastern Amateur at the Country Club of Columbus June 18-21 in Columbus, Ga. Hodge completed the 72 holes at two-over par 286, while Rende finished at four over, 288.
>Simon Forsslund finished tied for 11th in the SAS Masters Tour's Salem Becker Open at Salem Golf Club in Stockholm, Sweden June 11-13. Forsslund finished six strokes behind Andreas Hedlund with a two-under par 211. Forsslund shot rounds of 69, 73 and 69 on the par 71 course. The Nordic League is a professional tour in Europe.
>Qvicker received a sponsor's exemption into The Princess on the European Challenge Tour (Euro equivalent of the Nationwide Tour) at Bastad Golf Club (Par 71, 6,703) in Bastad, Sweden June 25-28. The event is hosted by Swedish touring pro Henrik Stenson, ranked No. 5 in the world. Stenson and Adam Scott will play an exhibition match following the tournament's completion. Qvicker is just one of two amateurs invited joined by fellow Swede Nils Floren (Texas Tech).
