CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga Mocs senior Stephan Jaeger (Munich, Germany) added to his impressive collegiate resume being named to Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar team the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Wednesday. It is the second time in his career Jaeger has earned a place on the team.
The award has some of the most stringent standards in college athletics. A nominee has to be a junior or senior academically, play in at least 70 percent of his teams' competitive rounds and have a stroke average less than 76.0 for Division I golfers while maintaining a 3.2 grade point average or better.
Jaeger completed his career holding virtually every record in Mocs history. He won four times, thrice in 2011-12 including the NCAA Bowling Green Regional and Southern Conference Championship.
He is the first UTC golfer to be chosen first team PING All-American. Jaeger is the only three-time SoCon Golfer of the Year and he was named PING All-East Region and All-SoCon all four seasons.
Jaeger joins Derek Rende (2007-10) as the only All-America Scholars in school history. Rende was also a two-time winner. Between the two, UTC has had an honoree for four straight years.
The 2012 Ben Hogan Award Watch Lister made his professional debut last weekend finishing tied for 23rd on the NGA Hooters Tour. Jaeger tackles the Web.com Tour, one step shy of the PGA, tomorrow at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational on the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. He tees off at 1:40 p.m.
