CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team wraps up the fall slate this weekend with a trip to Greensboro, N.C., for the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate. The tournament is October 28-29 with 36 holes on Saturday followed by a final 18 on Sunday.

The tourney lineup includes senior Steven Fox (Hendersonville, Tenn.), juniors Chris Robb (Aberdeenshire, Scotland) and Benni Weilguni (Langenlois, Austria), sophomore Liam Johnston (Dumfries, Scotland) and freshman Michael Monroe (Franklin, Tenn.). The quintet will play the par 72, 7,245-yard Grandover Resort East Course which hosted the 2012 NCAA Greensboro Regional.

Chattanooga is one of five teams in the field ranked in Golfstat's top 50. Fox, the 16th-ranked amateur in the world, is No. 73 in the 2012-13 collegiate rankings thus far. Robb is No. 88.

HEAD COACH
MARK GUHNE (Chattanooga '84) is in his eighth year as a head coach, all at Chattanooga.  The Mocs have won 16 team titles under his watch, including four SoCon titles and one NCAA Regional. He has been named SoCon Coach of the Year four times (2006, 2007, 2008 & 2012) and PING East Region Coach of the Year once (2009).  He has coached 12 medalists and one U.S. Amateur Champ (2012 - Steven Fox).

LAST TIME OUT
Chattanooga ended up fourth at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate. The Mocs beat No. 7 Georgia among others. Steven Fox (Hendersonville, Tenn.) led three in the top 20 tying for second at one-under par 214 (71-73-68).

UP NEXT
The Mocs wrap up the fall portion of the schedule in Greensboro this weekend. They return to the course February 22-24 at the Redstone Collegiate Championship in Humble, Texas.

NOTES
 - UTC's first appearance in the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate.
 - First time this season the Mocs have used the same lineup in back-to-back events.
 - Ole Miss (28) is the top-ranked team in the field. Virginia Tech (42), Mississippi State (47) and UTC (50) round out the top 50 teams playing in the event this weekend.
 - Steven Fox is No. 16 in the world according to the R&A World Amateur Rankings. He will represent the United State at the 2013 Copa de las Americas January 3-6 at Doral Resort and Spa in Miami, Fla.
 - Chattanooga has two top 100 (Golfstat) performers with Fox (No. 73) and No. 88 Chris Robb (Aberdeenshire, Scotland) in the collegiate rankings.
 - Fox was near flawless in his runner-up finish at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate. He recorded a career-high 45 pars while also making five birdies playing 50 of 54 holes par or better with just four bogeys.
 - Fox leads the Mocs in stroke average (72.11), pars (12.56/rd), fewest bogeys per round (2.78) and par 5 scoring (4.63).
 - As a team, UTC is -35 on the par fives (4.78).
 - Robb is second to Fox in scoring (72.42) and is tied for the team lead with Liam Johnston (Dumfries, Scotland) in birdies per round (3.00), and par 4 scoring (4.16) and is tied with Fox for the fewest others per round (0.33).
 - Robb has tied for 11th in each of his last two events (Brickyard & AutoTrader.com Collegiates).
 - Michael Monroe (Franklin, Tenn.) leads the squad in par 3 scoring (3.00).
 - The final round 277 (-11) at the Brickyard is tied for the sixth lowest competitive round in school history. It is also tied for the second lowest score outside of Chattanooga behind the -15 273 at the 2009 Administaff ASU Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. Monroe, Robb and Benni Weilguni (Langenlois, Austria) carded three-under par 69s, while Johnston added a 70. Monroe saw his first action of his collegiate career, while Weilguni made his season debut. They acquitted themselves well tying for 22nd shooting two-over par 218 over their 54 holes.
 - Fox needs 13 pars for 1200 in his collegiate career. He has 320 birdies. He's posted 35 rounds with four or more birdies (2 in 2012-13), 52 with 12 or more pars (52), 14 in the 60's (1) and 40 par or better (4). He has six top fives (1) and 10 total top 10's (1).
 - Robb has 28 career cards with four or more birdies (5) tallied, 29 with 12 or more pars (7), seven in the 60's (2) and 21 par or better (4). He has two top 10's both times finishing in the top five with a win at the 2010 Springhill Suites Collegiate.
 - Johnston is nine birdies short of 100 for his career. He seven rounds of four or more birdies (3), 14 with 12 or more pars (5) and eight par or better (4). He has one top 10 (2011 SoCon Champ.).
 -  U.S. Amateur Champion Steven Fox missed out on the Brickyard Collegiate. He spent that weekend representing the United States at the 2012 World Amateur Team Championship in Antalya, Turkey. Fox is joined on the team by Chris Williams (Washington) and Justin Thomas (Alabama) with Jim Vernon serving as captain. The event was shortened to 54 holes due to weather but it did not slow down the American squad. The USA trio set a 54-hole record shooting 24-under par 404. Fox finished tied for 10th in a field of 214 firing 71, 68, 69 for a six-under par 208.
 - Weilguni needs two pars for 600 and 27 birdies for 200. He got his 10th eagle at the Brickyard.
 - The opening two events (Carpet Capital Collegiate & PING/Golfweek Preview) were two of the toughest fields in collegiate golf this season. Both featured last year's NCAA Championship Finalists, Texas and Alabama. The Preview had 14 of 15 teams ranked in Golfweek's preseason top 25 including UTC at No. 24.
 - Wins at the Carpet Capital included three teams ranked in the top 12 at the end of the previous season. Auburn (by 15 strokes) was No. 8 in 2011-12, while North Florida (4) was No. 10 and Georgia Tech (9) 11th. The Mocs went 3-3 against the SEC, beating the Tigers, Tennessee and South Carolina, and 2-2 against the ACC topping Tech and North Carolina.
 - Beat then-No. 7 Georgia at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate.
 - The Mocs return four of five starters from last year's NCAA Bowling Green Regional Champion along with two letterwinners and three strong freshmen from the state of Tennessee. Fox headlines the group that includes senior Ratliff, juniors Davis Bunn (Knoxville, Tenn.), Robb and Benni Weilguni (Langenlois, Austria) and sophomore Johnston. First team All-American and four-time PING All-East Region performer Stephan Jaeger (Munich, Germany) graduated.
 - Fox had the big win of the 2012 summer circuit for the Mocs, but he was not alone. Johnston and Robb each won in their native Scotland. Johnston captured the Tennant Cup at Glasgow Gailes and Killermont in June. He shot 68-62 over the final 36 holes for a one-shot win. Robb won the North East Open at Newmachar Golf Club. He shot six-under to win by five over former Walker Cupper Graham Gordon.
