Senior Niko Brown went 15-0 in dual matches this season.
Five Mocs Named to All-SoCon Team
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling team put five student-athletes on the 2013 All-Southern Conference team, the league office announced today.  Seniors Niko Brown and Josh Condon, junior Alex Hudson, sophomore Nick Soto and freshman John Lampe all earned recognition for their outstanding performances in the regular season.

Brown, a native of Kissimmee, Fla., capped a stellar season with his second All-SoCon recognition.  He has a team-best 27-3 record and was 15-0 in dual matches.  He is ranked as high as No. 18 in the nation at 197 and is going for his first win at the SoCon Championships in Lexington, Va., this weekend.

Condon came on strong in the second semester, running through the field at 165 pounds.  The Powder Springs, Ga., native went 6-0 in the SoCon with five pins.  He split the award with Appalachian State's Zach Strickland, despite going undefeated in league bouts and pinning Strickland in the dual with the Mountaineers on Feb. 3.  It was his second All-SoCon honor as he looks for his second SoCon title this weekend.

Hudson (Marietta, Ga.) finished with a 12-5 overall record and is on an eight-match winning streak.  He was 6-0 in SoCon matches, earning his first recognition from the league.  Four of his six league wins came with bonus points, while the other two were shutouts.

Soto repeats on the All-SoCon team after dropping down to 125.  The Spring Hill, Fla., native is ranked as high as No. 18 in the nation with a 24-6 overall record.  He went 7-0 in SoCon matches and did not allow more than three points in any league bout.  He is going for his second-straight SoCon title at this weekend's championships.

Lampe (Fairdale, Ky.) was the All-SoCon pick at 174 and made the SoCon All-Freshman team.  He moved up to 174 to make room for Condon in the lineup, and posted a 5-0 record in league matches.  He finished the season 13-10 overall.

Chattanooga cruised to a 7-0 record in SoCon duals, 11-6 overall, while capturing the regular season title.  However, The Citadel will provide a strong challenge at the SoCon Tournament.  The Bulldogs have the SoCon Wrestler of the Year in heavyweight Odie Delaney, the SoCon Freshman of the Year in 141-pounder Ugi Khishignyam and five All-SoCon selections.

The SoCon Wrestling Championship, hosted by VMI in Lexington, Va., takes place Saturday. Doors to Cameron Hall open at 9 a.m. First-round matches are set to begin at 10 a.m., with finals slated to start at 7 p.m.
