The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s tennis team opens Southern Conference action this weekend against Georgia Southern. The Mocs host the Eagles at the Champions Club on Saturday, March 8 at Noon.
Saturday’s match is part of a doubleheader with the men’s team. They also host The Citadel at The Champions Club, the site of the 2014 SoCon Tennis Championships on April 16-19. First serve for both matches is set for Noon.
Chattanooga is 8-2 overall and on a four-match winning streak. Both of their losses were on the road against ranked teams in No. 33 Memphis and No. 27 Tennessee.
Junior Kaylene Chadwell leads the team with an 8-1 record at No. 2 singles. Junior Claire Mulyadi is also 8-1, playing mostly at No. 5. Both have won each of their last four matches. Chadwell and senior Alex Flynn was 3-0 since taking over the top spot in doubles play.
UTC is 13-13 all-time against the Eagles, but have won four-straight in the series. The Mocs are trying to win their SoCon opener for the first time since a 5-2 win against the College of Charleston on March 3, 2002.
