The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s tennis team puts its eight-match winning streak on the line when it travels to Wofford and Furman this weekend. The Mocs are 12-2 overall and one of three undefeated teams in Southern Conference action with a 3-0 mark in league play.
Chattanooga opens the weekend at Wofford’s John E. Reeves Tennis Center in Spartanburg, S.C. First serve is set for Noon on Saturday, March 29. Wofford is 5-9 on the year and 1-3 in SoCon action. Julia Paulson leads the team with a 7-7 mark at No. 3.
Furman will be the center of attention for SoCon women’s tennis this weekend. The Paladins are 10-5 overall and tied with the Mocs at 3-0 in league play. They are ranked No. 68 this week and host league-leader Samford on Saturday. The Bulldogs are 12-1 overall, 4-0 in SoCon action and ranked No. 71 this week.
Chattanooga visits the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C., on Sunday, March 30, at 11:00 a.m. Check the women’s tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com for a link to live scoring for this match. Furman is a tough opponent at home, owning a 6-0 mark this season. Ansley Speaks leads the team with a 10-5 record in spring play, 4-1 at No. 1.
The Mocs have had some battles with the Paladins in recent meetings. Each of the last three contests has been 4-3 wins for Furman. UTC lost twice to the Paladins last season, once at home and once at the SoCon Tournament.
Chattanooga junior Claire Mulyadi has won eight in a row and is 10-1 at No. 5 this spring. The Mocs own a 64-16 (.800) singles record this spring and are 17-1 in SoCon singles. Senior Alexa Flynn and junior Kaylene Chadwell are 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Sophomores Katie Polk and Kayla Jones have the same record at No. 2. UTC is 9-0 in SoCon doubles and 26-9 in spring action overall.
