Herrington-Woodard Videos

Amy Herrington-Woodard enters her fourth season at Chattanooga as an associate coach.  She elevated to associate after the Mocs record-breakig 2011 season. During her first season as an associate head coach, she and Head Coach Frank Reed led the Mocs to a 20-2 Southern Conference record in 2012. She serves as the team’s recruiting coordinator and defensive positioning and first base coach, while helping head coach Frank Reed with in-game decisions.

Woodard came into the Scenic City and immediately made an impact on the Mocs by altering practice schedules and keeping a senior-laden team on its toes. The team responded in posting one of the best seasons in program history, a 44-12 mark, along with an appearance in the finals of the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional. Chattanooga posted a SoCon-record 20 win season capturing its 13th SoCon regular-season championship and 11th SoCon tournament title.

Guiding the Mountaineers, Herrington-Woodard compiled a 64-91 record, which included the first winning season in the program's 10-year history a 27-25 finish in 2010. Nine players were named All-SoCon under Herrington-Woodard's watch and three individuals were selected to the all-freshman team.

The 2009 season for Herrington-Woodard was a banner year, where the Mountaineers finished the SoCon schedule at 14-9, the best record for the program and second place finish that broke 30 school records and 24 single-season individual and team marks.

On Oct. 10, 2007, Herrington-Woodard was named the head coach at Appalachian State after two seasons as an assistant and one as the associate head coach. The Mountaineers finished 11-37 and 6-10 in SoCon play, while capturing a victory in the conference tournament.

Before arriving in Boone, N.C., Herrington-Woodard served on the coaching staff at Florida State in 2004 and completed her master's degree in sports management the same year.
She helped guide the Seminoles to a fifth-place finish at the 2004 Women's College World Series, along with Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA Regional titles. The entire coaching staff was honored as the 2004 Southeast Regional Coaching Staff of the Year.

As a student-athlete at Eastern Kentucky, Herrington-Woodard was a member of the Colonels' 2002 Ohio Valley Conference regular season and tournament championship team. She completed her career in 2003 and graduated with a bachelor's degree in physical education with a concentration in sports management.

She was named to the All-OVC first team as well as the league's all-tournament team in 2002 and earned second team All-OVC as an infielder in 2000 and 2001. Her twin sister, Bethany, was a three-time All-OVC performer and the pair help lead EKU to the school's first ever regional appearance.

A native of Olympia, Wash., Herrington-Woodard married Jonathan Woodard, who was a standout baseball player at EKU, in the summer of 2006. He was a volunteer assistant with Herrington-Woodard at Appalachian State for four seasons.

The two have a one-year-old daughter, Elleigh, and are expecting their second daughter.
