Ian is entering his third year at Chattanooga as a graduate assistant. He currently works with the Mocs softball team and has assisted with Chattanooga’s football, golf and tennis programs.

Ovver the summer, Ian served on the medical staff for the Volkswagon USA Cycling Professional Road and Time Trials National Championship in Chattanooga.

Before coming to Chattanooga, Carruthers worked with Varsity Brands Inc., as a cheerleading trainer.  While with Varsity, Ian was selected to to the first aid staff for both the Macy’s London New Year’s parades. He has also worked on staff for numerous colleges, high school and all-star cheerleading and dance competitions at Walt Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla.  He was named Varsity’s Rookie of the Year in 2008.

Carruthers earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Millikin in Decatur, Illinois, in 2011. While completing his studies, he assisted the athletic trainers with football and various men’s and women’s sports.  While there, he was named to the Dean’s List on four occasions.

Ian is pursuing his Masters in Health and Human Performance at UTC.  Carruthers has been named to the Dean’s List twice while at Chattanooga.

Ian is a native of Memphis, Tenn., where he graduated from Memphis University School in 2007.
