The Chattanooga Mocs (8-14, 2-5 SoCon) volleyball team was unable to cage the College of Charleston (15-6, 7-1), dropping a three-set match (25-17, 25-15, 25-19) to the Cougars in Charleston, S.C., Saturday evening.

Chattanooga led the first set on three occasions, but their one-point leads faded as the Cougars began to pull away 18-points deep into the match. A 7-7 game early, Charleston poured on an 8-3 run to take over the set. The Cougars marched to a 25-17 win with UTC threatening late.
Chattanooga was held to a match-worst .037 hitting percentage in the second frame while Charleston hit a match-best .375. Despite the poor hitting percentage, the Mocs held the Cougars within two points, 13-11, until Charleston exploded for seven straight points. The 8-1 run put the Cougars up 21-13, scoring four of the set's last seven points to take a 2-0 lead into the locker room.
Charleston claimed the match with the third stanza, picking up a 25-19 en route to downing UTC. Chattanooga jumped on the Cougars early with a 5-3 advantage, but Charleston slowly whittled away at the lead (5-4, 8-7, 10-9) eventually taking an 11-10 advantage and keeping the pedal down. The Mocs would pull within one point of tying the set, 15-14, but Charleston cruised to the win with a 10-5 run.
The Mocs wrap up their road trip tomorrow afternoon with a 3 p.m. matchup with The Citadel. The match can be followed online with live video and live stats provided by the Bulldogs.
