Mocs Student-Athletes Receive Degrees During Fall Commencement

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga observed its 229th Commencement on Sunday, December 14, at the McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga, Tenn. The Mocs saw eight student-athletes receive their degrees at the event.

Alex Anderson, one of the most decorated women’s basketball players in school history, earned her degree in Psychology. Anderson, the 2008 Southern Conference Female Athlete of the Year, is currently playing professionally in Israel. The two-time Southern Conference Player of the Year was a consistent Academic Honor Roll and Dean’s List student during her time at UTC.

Another women’s basketball standout, Brooke Hand, earned her degree in K-12 Health and Exercise Pedagogy. She leaves Chattanooga as the Southern Conference’s all-time leader in 3-pt. FGs with 315.

Kelsey Amundson represented the Volleyball team, graduating Magna Cum Laude with her degree in Early Childhood Education. Ashlan Clarkson, a member of the Southern Conference champion softball program, completed her degree in Sport Administration.

Several members of the football team saw their academic goals reached, including Mitchell Meadows (Criminal Justice), Anthony Brodnax (Business Marketing), and Malachi McGee (Human Services Management). Brodnax and McGhee were both Dean’s List honorees. Curtis Jeffries, a medical-redshirt for most of his career at UTC, also finished his degree in Sport Administration.
