Marquita Turner joined the UTC Athletics Department in April of 2007 as its Director of Compliance.

Turner will take over the day-to-day dealings with the NCAA, Southern Conference and university rules compliance for the athletics department. Her duties include monitoring student-athlete eligibility, management of recruiting, financial aid, play-practice documentation from the coaches and rules interpretation.

Turner is a graduate of Mississippi State where she earned a Master of Science in Sports Administration in August 2006 and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 2005. She served as an intern in the Compliance office at Mississippi State in the summer of 2006. From there she accepted an internship at Ohio University, down the road from her hometown of Columbus.

“I am very excited to have Marquita join our Chattanooga family,” Hart said. “As I said upon being named athletics director, compliance is our number one priority. With her on board, we have significantly strengthened our commitment to our student-athletes and our mission.”

Turner will join forces at UTC with Laura Mincy, who has held the dual roles of Compliance Director and Senior Woman Administrator.

Turner was married to Demetric Armistead in May of 2007 in Starkville, Mississippi.
