Wrestling Ranked 15th Nationally in Attendance

The wrestling program ranked 15th nationally in average attendance this season in a poll of NCAA Division I wrestling teams.


The figures were compiled and released by Dennis Diehl, a columnist for Amateur Wrestling News and InterMat.


The Mocs, who wrestle at Maclellan Gym on the UTC campus, averaged 975 fans for six home dates in 2007-08.  Chattanooga drew a season-high 1,600 fans for its Dec. 16 matchup with No. 8-ranked Missouri.


Chattanooga was ranked ahead of Hofstra (935) and Northern Iowa (888).  Iowa led the nation in attendance with an average of 7,541 per date.  The Hawkeyes drew a nation’s-best 14,332 in a home dual against Oklahoma State.


Instate-rival Iowa State stood second at 4,311 per date.  The Iowa-Iowa State match drew 8,998 at Iowa State.
