University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Director of Athletics Rick Hart will introduce the new wrestling head coach at a press conference on Saturday, July 11.  The press conference will be held in the Hall of Fame Room on the 4th floor of McKenzie Arena at 2:00 p.m.

Fans, alumni and supporters of Mocs wrestling and the UTC athletics program are encouraged to attend and meet the new head coach.  Those wanting to attend the event should enter the arena at Gate 2 and proceed to the 4th floor.

The Mocs’ position opened up when former head coach Chris Bono announced that he would not be returning for the 2009-10 season.  Bono guided UTC to three Southern Conference titles during his three years at Chattanooga.  He also won three Southern Conference Coach of the Year honors.

Chattanooga finished the 2008-09 season with a 21-10 mark in dual meets, including a 5-0 record in SoCon matches.  The Mocs won their 24th SoCon title and had six individuals qualify for the NCAA Championships.  UTC tied for 52nd at the NCAAs.

Chattanooga has nine of 10 starters returning, including SoCon individual champs seniors Cody Cleveland (141) Joey Knox (157) and sophomores Demetrius Johnson (125), Dan Waddell (149) and Jason McCroskey (174). Cleveland was the 2009 SoCon Wrestler of the Year while McCroskey was named the 2009 SoCon Freshman of the Year.
