Maju Loza helped lead the Lady Mocs past two top 10 programs (LSU, Ohio State).

FARRAGUT, Tenn.---The Chattanooga women's golf team finished eighth at the Mercedes-Benz Women's Championship at Fox Den Country Club Sunday afternoon.  The 17th-ranked Lady Mocs finished the three-day tourney at 907, five shots behind No. 12 Florida at 902.

Chattanooga shot 305 in the final round led by sophomore Maria Juliana Loza's 71.  Loza carded three birdies and just two bogeys in pacing the squad.  She finished tied for 29th at 227 (+11),

Junior Emma de Groot was the low finisher ending tied for 20th with a total of 224 (+8) after an uncharacteristic 79 (+7) on the last day.  Sophomore Maria Salinas tied for 39th at 228 (+12) with a 77 today.

Junior Christine Wolf shot a 78 for her final round to end up tied for 66th at 234, while senior Kayla Stewart ended up tied for 77th at 236.

It was a rough day from the outset for the Lady Mocs as the team was four-over par through fourt holes.  UTC turned at 14-over par, but righted the ship a bit on the back nine shooting three-over on the side.

Host Tennessee claimed the title with a four-over par score of 868.  No. 22 Louisville came in second at 887, while No. 24 South Carolina finished third at 889.  Chattanooga topped No. 7 LSU by three shots, No. 9 Ohio State by 14 shots, No. 20 Tulane by six and SoCon rival Furman by 21.

This wraps up the fall portion of the season for the Lady Mocs.  The team resumes play on March 1-2 at the Kinderlou Forest Challenge in Valdosta, Ga.
