Steven Fox finished in the top 10 at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---It is the second time in as many events that the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's golf team returns to the site of a team win in 2008 after a year away from the event in 2009.  Chattanooga heads to the Furman Intercollegiate this week with the first round starting on Friday, March 19.

The three-day, 54-hole tournament will provide a good test for the Mocs.  No. 17 Clemson will be there as will host Furman, which has topped UTC twice this season.

Chattanooga is coming off a seven-shot win at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate.  Clemson came in second followed by East Carolina which will be at Furman as well.

Stephan Jaeger leads the Mocs with a 71.63 stroke average.  The sophomore is ranked No. 35 nationally on the Golfweek/Sagarin Ratings Index.  He finished tied for fourth with an even par 210 at the Palmetto, his third top five of the season.

Derek Rende and Steven fox each tallied top 10 finishes at the Palmetto.  Rende finished eighth at 212 (+2), while Fox ended up tied for 10th at 214 (+4).  It was the first top 10 of the season for both.

WHOSteven Fox.  The true freshman had his best tournament performance of the season at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate March 8-9.  Fox's 54-hole total of 214 (+4) was a season's best as was his second round 66 (-4) which was his first collegiate round in the 60's.  Fox tied his high in birdies with 11 for the three rounds while his five in round two tie his high from the third round at the Carpet Capital Collegiate in September.

WHAT:  Furman Intercollegiate - 54 holes (18 each day).  East Carolina is the defending champion with a weather-shortened 36-hole total of 595 (+19) 298-297 one shot ahead of Furman and Virginia Tech while North Florida ended up fourth.  The Paladins' Austin Reeves played as an individual and captured medalist honors at 145 (+1) shooting rounds of 79 and 66.

WHEN:  Friday, March 19 through Sunday, March 21

WHERE:  Furman Golf Club.  Par 72 - 6,994 yards.

HOW:  The Furman Intercollegiate is the site of the fourth of the Mocs' five team titles during the 2007-08 season.  It is one of two events (Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate) where the Mocs won in 2008 and could not defend in 2009 due to other commitments. Chattanooga won the Palmetto in its last event.

QUOTABLE:  "This is a chance to keep the momentum building.  We played well at the Palmetto and are really coming together.  The key is to keep getting better...more consistent.  If we want to be an elite team, this needs to be a beginning." - Head Coach Mark Guhne
