David Moore (Sarnia, Ontario), a four-year letter winner on the men's track & field and cross country teams, was one of the highest honored students today. He received Summa Cum Laude recognition, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology Management with a concentration in Construction Management. He also earned minors in Business Administration and Economics.
"David has been an excellent representative of the cross country and track & field teams, as well as our entire athletics program," stated Director of Athletics Rick Hart. "He is honored today with a group of graduates that are helping the Mocs achieve our vision of establishing comprehensive excellence as the UTC standard."
Both Moore and women's basketball graduate Tagan Hatchett (Acworth, Ga.) were elected to the Alpha Society. The Alpha Scholastic Honor Society is one of the University's oldest and most prestigious honor societies. Organized on the UTC campus in 1918 to recognize outstanding achievement, the Alpha Society elects new members annually from graduating seniors, faculty, administrators, distinguished alumni and community members.
Hatchett earned a B. S. in Health and Human Performance and was recognized Magna Cum Laude for her work in the classroom during her career. Women's tennis graduate Kate Ksiezopoloski (Toronto, Ontario) finished her B.S. in Human Ecology.
Football had the most representation with five former Mocs finishing their academic careers. Doug Faatiliga (San Francisco, Calif.) and B.J. Taylor (Cherokee, Ala.) both earned a B.S. in Psychology. Shaun Kermah (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished his B.S. degree in Sociology and Anthropology while Rodney Beamon (Riverside, Calif.) and Cody Romans (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) both earned a B.S. in Business Administration.
Softball's Lynleigh Hurndon (McDonough, Ga.) and wrestling's Joey Knox (Dublin, Ga.) joined Beamon and Romans with their B.S. degrees in Business Administration. Carlos Baron (Fortson, Ga.) gave wrestling two graduates by completing his B.S. in Biology.
