"Green fits in well with the natural environment and habitat of the Mockingbird," stated UTC Director of Athletics Rick Hart. "As we seek to continually improve as a department, we felt that adjusting our colors to hues more in line with the campus' Green Initiative was a logical step."
The new Green & Gold color scheme will allow Chattanooga Athletics to stand out in the Southern Conference with unique marks that are unlike any other in the league. Chattanooga will keep the Gold and launch a new slogan for the fall sports - Blue + Gold = Green - to ease fans in the transition.
"With our championship tradition, the members of the Southern Conference are already 'Green' with envy," stated Hart. "We are excited to take this step and I have heard from many fans and supporters who are already looking to trade in their old Blue for some Green."
Fans can look for promotions throughout the season to raise more awareness of the change. GoMocs.com and all of the Mocs home venues are currently undergoing tranformations to reflect the change to Green. The Mocs football team is already planning a "Green Out" game for its home opener against Jacksonville State on Saturday, Sept. 10.
