SoCon TV Package Features Two Chattanooga Games
Captain Ryan Consiglio and reserve LB/DB D.J. Key converge on former Auburn QB Cam Newton.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- The Southern Conference announced its 2011 football television schedule Monday morning beginning October 1 and running for eight weeks.  The package includes two Chattanooga Mocs games, both on the road.

Built in conjunction with league marketing partner CSE, is part of a three-year plan with public television stations in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.  Chattanooga is covered by Georgia Public Broadcasting.

GPB can be found on channel 204 on Comcast Cable, 10 on EPB Digital and 18 on AT&T U-Verse through WNGH out of Chatsworth/Dalton, and Channel 8 on DirecTV and Dish Network through WGTV.

The Mocs are featured twice, both times on the road.  The second game in the package is UTC at Georgia Southern on Oct. 8 followed two weeks later with the trip to Elon on the 22nd. All game times are at 3 p.m., eastern time.

The deal allows the SoCon to control both its broadcast and digital rights along with creative control for the broadcasts. It increases the number of households reached in the PBS stations area to 11 million.  Fans outside the broadcast range will be able to watch the same broadcast live at no cost on their computers and select tablets and smart phones.

The agreement not only aids in football coverage, but it is an opportunity to promote the entire institution.  Educational initiatives will be promoted as well as successful on-campus programs (educational and athletic).

Chattanooga opens the season Sept. 3 at traditional-power Nebraska. The Mocs return home to host Jacksonville State on Sept. 10 at 6 p.m.  Tickets are available on or by calling the ticket office at (423) 266-MOCS (6627).
