The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team hosts a pair of matches at the Hixson Racquet Club this weekend. The Mocs welcome Belmont on Friday, Feb. 10, at 5:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) and Gardner-Webb on Sunday, Feb. 12, at 10:00 a.m.

UTC is off to a strong start with a 3-2 overall record. The Mocs have wins over Tennessee Tech (6-1), Murray State (7-0) and Lipscomb (6-1). Their losses have come against No. 71 Radford (0-7) and at Middle Tennessee (1-6).
Junior Chris Smith (Johnson City, Tenn.) has moved up to No. 2 in the lineup where he is 3-1 this spring. Junior Ankit Chopra (Chandigrah, India) is also 3-1 at No. 3 while fellow junior Manuel Barroetavena (Buenos Aires, Argentina) is 2-1 since entering the lineup at No. 4. Pencil Tresnan in at the fifth spot with freshman Pavels Grigorjevs (Riga, Latvia) playing No. 6.
Smith and Vieira are 2-3 as the No. 1 doubles team while Chopra and junior Stephen Crofford are 3-2 at No. 2. The No. 3 squad could include any combination of Grigorjevs, Tresnan and sophomore Orlando Lourenco (Hixson, Tenn.).
Belmont has played in just one dual this spring, a 5-2 loss at Austin Peay on Jan. 25. Chattanooga swept the Bison 7-0 at home in last year's meeting. Vieira, Smith, Tresnan and junior William Disterdick all got singles win in last year's match.
Gardner-Webb is 2-3 overall, including a 5-2 win at Southern Conference foe Davidson on Jan. 28. The Runnin' Bulldogs' other win was a 7-0 sweep of Lees-McRae on Wednesday.
