The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team has three matches on the schedule this week.  UTC hosts Lee University for its final non-conference competition of the season on Thursday, March 22.  The Mocs then travel to The Citadel and the College of Charleston on Saturday and Sunday for two Southern Conference matches.

UTC will take on the Flames at 2:30 p.m. (E.D.T.) on the UTC Tennis Courts.  A link for live scoring is available on the men's tennis schedule page on

The Citadel is 4-10 overall and 0-4 in SoCon action.  The Bulldogs host Samford (3/21) and Chicago (3/23) before the Mocs visit on Saturday, March 24, at 1:00 p.m. UTC posted a 7-0 win over The Citadel in last year's match.

The College of Charleston is 7-3 overall and in second place in the SoCon race at 2-0.  UTC is looking to snap a five-match losing streak to the Cougars this weekend.  The Mocs' last victory in the series was a 4-3 road victory on March 10, 2008.  Match time against CofC is set for 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 25.  The Cougars host first-place Samford (10-2, 4-0 SoCon) on Friday before the Mocs visit.

The Mocs are off to their best start since 2008 with a 10-4 record.  UTC has already surpassed last year's win total and has the most victories in a season since posting a 12-10 record in 2008.  Chattanooga is 2-2 in SoCon matches and currently in fifth place in the league race.

Junior Manuel Barroetavena (Buenos Aires, Argentina) leads the team with a 14-6 record.  He is 4-0 in SoCon matches and 8-2 at No. 4 this spring.  He is currently on a seven-match winning streak and is 9-1 in his last 10 outings.

Freshman Pavels Grigorjevs (Riga, Latvia) is also on a seven-match winning streak and has a 4-0 SoCon record.  He is 10-6 overall and 7-2 at the No. 6 position.  Junior Jackson Tresnan (Apopka, Fla.) was the SoCon Player of the Month for February and has a 10-4 singles record.  He is 8-2 at No. 5.

Junior Roberto Vieira (Bedfordview, South Africa) is a two-time All-SoCon performer who has been battling a nagging foot injury over the last two weeks.  He is 11-10 in singles and 7-6 at No. 1.

The doubles lineup continues to be tweaked, but Barroetavena and Tresnan have won their last two at No. 2 and are 3-0 as a pair.  Juniors Sam Parfitt (Norwich, England) and Stephen Crofford (Franklin, Tenn.) are also seeing recent action in the doubles lineup.
