CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Three former Chattanooga Mocs golfers are working their way toward PGA Tour cards. Jonathan Hodge (Jasper, Tenn.), Stephan Jaeger (Munich, Germany) and Bryce Ledford (Chattanooga, Tenn.) continue the journey at PGA Tour Q School Stage II today.
There are two different locations for the trio. Jaeger and Ledford are at Plantation Preserve Golf Course and Club in Plantation, Fla., while Hodge is in Humble, Texas on Redstone Golf Club's Members Course.
"We'll be following them closely," said Head Coach Mark Guhne. "I couldn't be prouder of where they are at this point. Each has worked so hard just to get to this stage and I assure you they are doing everything in their power to get to the finals.
"I wouldn't be shocked if we follow all three to California (for the final stage)."
Both sites are a 72-hole journey today, November 13, through Friday, November 16. At press time, the number from each site to move on is not available.
All three have their eyes on the final stage of qualifying. That six-round, 108-hole marathon is November 28 through December 3 at PGA West utilizing the TPC Stadium and Nicklaus Tournament courses. The top 25 and ties there are eligible for 2013 PGA Tour membership. Making the final stage presents possible membership to the Web.com Tour.
A PGA Tour membership for a former Mocs star would be an appropriate cap to an amazing 2012. UTC swept team and individual titles at the Southern Conference Championship and NCAA Bowling Green Regional with Jaeger, a 2012 first team PING All-American, winning both.
Liam Johnston (Dumfries, Scotland) and Chris Robb (Aberdeenshire, Scotland) each added wins of their own at home over the summer. Johnston won the Tennant Cup with a final round 62, while Robb claimed the crown at the North East Open.
Steven Fox (Hendersonville, Tenn.) made the biggest splash of all. He won the United States Amateur Championship at famed Cherry Hills Country Club in Colorado. Truly all that's left in 2012 is a tour card.
