Huesman (Chattanooga, Tenn.) sets a UTC record with his fourth SoCon Freshman of the Week honor, surpassing teammate Terrell Robinson (2011) and James Roberts (1989) who both earned three in their freshman campaigns. He is also the first in the SoCon to earn four weekly freshman honors since Appalachian State's Armanti Edwards grabbed five in 2006.
Huesman accounted for all three Chattanooga touchdowns in Saturday's win over the Phoenix. He completed 13 of 25 pass attempts for 234 yards and two touchdowns. He also carried the ball 21 times for 109 yards and a score. With the game tied (10-10) at halftime, Huesman engineered two touchdown drives in the third quarter to push the Mocs ahead. He found Terrell Robinson from 13 yards out to give UTC a seven-point cushion (17-10) and later connected with Robinson on a 67-yard strike in the third quarter. The 67-yard pass was Huesman's longest completion of the season. He also caught one pass in the win and accounted for 345 yards of total offense.
Pollard averaged 43.2 yards on six punts in Chattanooga's win over Elon. The Smyrna, Tenn. native pinned Elon inside its own 20-yard line on five of his six punts. Two of his final three punts were downed inside the Phoenix 10-yard line. Pollard booted three punts over 50 yards, including a game-high 58-yarder. He also connected on a 30-yard field goal midway through the first quarter and converted all three of his extra-point attempts.
The Mocs wrapped up the 2012 season with a 6-5 overall record and fourth place in the SoCon at 5-3. It is the third winning season in the last four years for UTC, the first time Chattanooga has put together a run like that since 1984-87.
