CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.-The Chattanooga Lady Mocs softball team hosts the annual Lady Moc RBI Club Pankcake Breakfast fundraiser Saturday, Jan. 26, from 8-10 a.m. at the downtown Applebee's. Tickets can be purchased for $6 at the door and proceeds from the event from the event benefit the Chattanooga softball team.
The coaching staff and student-athletes will serve breakfast to supporters of the program providing an opportunity to converse and interact with the team. Posters and schedule cards will also be distributed to fans in attendance.
"This is a great time for fans to interact with our student-athletes," Head Coach Frank Reed said. "It's an opportunity for fans to meet their favorite players and, likewise with the players, a great time for them to interact with the people who show up to support them in the stands. It's an opportunity for our program to have an even better relationship with its supporters."
The Lady Mocs are coming off a 39-16 performance last season, going 20-2 at Frost Stadium. UTC's 20-2 mark in the SoCon tied a program-high for most conference wins. Seniors Sara Poteat (Thomaston, Ga.), Kasey Tydingco (Fairfield, Calif.) and Ninjja Suetsugu (Sao Paulo, Brazil) look to lead the team to its 14th regular season SoCon title.
Chattanooga opens the 2013 season Feb. 8 in Clermont, Fla. at the National Training Center Invitational. The Lady Mocs will take on Fordham, Southern Illinois, Long Island and Virginia Tech before traveling to Auburn University to participate in the Tiger Invitational Feb. 15-17. Chattanooga hosts the annual Frost Classic Feb. 22-24 to opens its home slate. UTC takes on Eastern Kentucky, Boston College, Miami-Ohio and Missouri State in the Scenic City.
