Mocs Announce 2013 Football Schedule
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team announced the 2013 schedule today.  The Mocs will play a 12-game slate in the upcoming season, including six home games at Finley Stadium.

UTC opens with a Thursday night contest against in-state rival UT-Martin at Finley Stadium on Aug. 29.  This is the second year in a row, and the third time in the Russ Huesman era, the Mocs have opened their home schedule on a Thursday night.  Thursday night games have always been popular in the Scenic City, with an average attendance that is 30% higher than a Saturday crowd at Finley Stadium.

Chattanooga has a 3-0 advantage in the all-time series with UT-Martin.  All three games were played in a series from 1991-93, with the first two in Chattanooga and the last one in Martin.

The Mocs hit the road for the second week at Georgia State on Sept. 7.  Originally, this was schedule as non-conference game between two regional rivals in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).  However, Georgia State has made the jump to the Sun Belt Conference and the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), despite only three previous years of competition.  This is the first meeting between these two teams.

Chattanooga returns home to face another in-state rival in Week 3, hosting Austin Peay on Sept. 14.  This will be the Governors first visit to the Scenic City since 1967.  UTC holds a 4-0 advantage in the all-time series with APSU.

Following the open week, the Mocs kickoff the Southern Conference portion of the schedule on Sept. 28 at Georgia Southern.  UTC then hosts Western Carolina and Furman in back-to-back weekends.  Homecoming is set for Oct. 12 against the Paladins.

After a trip to Elon on Oct. 19, Chattanooga will host The Citadel on Oct. 26.  UTC visits Appalachian State on Nov. 2 and closes out the home schedule with Senior Day on Nov. 9 against Wofford.  The SoCon schedule concludes at Samford on Nov. 16.

The regular season finale for the Mocs is a trip to two-time defending BCS Champion Alabama on Nov. 23.  This is the Mocs second trip to Tuscaloosa, Ala., in five seasons.  UTC is 0-11 all-time against the Crimson Tide.

All game times listed below are still tentative and subject to change.  Be sure to check back to GoMocs.com for the season ticket on-sale date and more information on the 2013 Mocs football season.
