The Chattanooga Mocs Scottish trio of Liam Johnston (Dumfries), Chris Robb (Aberdeenshire) and Ewan Scott (St. Andrews) are as active as any Mocs in memory over the summer months. Here is the latest as they play much of the same events:
Robb got the best of Johnston at the Tennant Cup where Johnston was the defending champion. Robb shot 288 (+6) over his 72 holes at Killermont and Gailes Courses at Glasgow Golf Club to end up tied for fifth, four strokes off the pace. Johnston tied for 27th at 298. His closing round 62 last year capture the title.
Scott has rocketed up the R&A World Amateur Golf Rankings to No. 184 since his move to men’s events. His last event was the Brabazon Trophy last weekend at Formby Golf Club in Liverpool, England finishing tied for 42nd.
DAVIS BUNN UPDATE
Rising senior Davis Bunn (Knoxville, Tenn.) had a busy couple of weeks. He followed up a tie for 26th at the 13th Annual Greystone Invitational with a quarterfinal finish in the TGA Match Play. His one-under par total of 143 (74-69) tied for seventh in the stroke play qualifying.
Scott received a well-deserved appointment to Scotland’s entry into the European Team Championship. The event, played July 9-13 at Silkeborg Golf Club in Denmark, features what Scottish Golf Union officials consider to be their top six players, quite an accomplishment for 18-year old from golf’s capital city, St. Andrews. The Scottish team last won the event in 2009.
