BRITT QUALIFIES FOR U.S. WOMEN’S AMATEUR
Senior Jordan Britt (Chattanooga, Tenn.) qualified for the United States Women’s Amateur with a 73 at Dalton Country Club in Dalton, Ga. It was an impressive card with the extreme soggy conditions and 6,400-plus yard layout that played much longer. The championship is August 5-11 at the Country Club of Charleston in S.C.
She joins former Mocs Christine Wolf (2008-11) and Emma de Groot (2008-11) as the third to qualify for the event as a UTC golfer as Wolf and de Groot made it in 2011. Sophomore Isabella Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) also qualified in 2011 prior to signing with the Mocs that fall.
LOZA 4TH IN COLOMBIA
Loza finished fourth at the III Alberto de Golf Ruitoque June 28-July 1. She shot rounds of 73, 71, 75 and 77 to end up seven shots off the pace.
SAUZON NETS TOP 10 IN FRANCE
Junior Southern Conference Champion Agathe Sauzon (Valence, France) posted a top 10 in France in the 72-hole Grand Prix de Chiberta at Golf de Chiberta Anglet. She tied for seventh shooting four-over par 288.
SAUZON, KRYGER & CAMPBELL IN ACTION AS WELL
Sauzon and fellow juniors Mette Kryger (Nivaa, Denmark) and Porsche Campbell (Vancouver, Canada) competed recently in Europe and in Canada. Sauzon (T12) and Kryger (18) played well against a tough field at the Swiss Ladies Amateur at Lausanne Golf Club in Lausanne, Switzerland. Kryger’s opening round 73 was low for the Mocs there.
Campbell finished 27th at the British Columbia Open. Britt made it to the final four at the Tennessee Women’s Amateur after defeating two-time champion Kendall Martindale of Vanderbilt 1up in the quarters.
